In August 2026, Avid announced that in the upcoming Media Composer 2026.8 release, they will close the third-party storage emulation path previously used for bin sharing and locking in Media Composer Ultimate. Once released, Avid will require a Media Composer Enterprise license for supported shared projects on third-party storage. Action Required: Hold off on upgrading Media Composer to version 2026.8. To ensure uninterrupted workflow continuity across your Osiris and Strawberry environments, please do not upgrade your Media Composer editing stations to version 2026.8 when it is officially released.
